Maryam Alizadeh

Maryam Alizadeh was born in Baku.
She studied at the Theater Studies Faculty of the Azerbaijan State Institute of Arts (1967-1972), and at the postgraduate school of the Azerbaijan Academy of Sciences.
She began her career as a senior laboratory assistant at the Theater and Cinema Department of the Institute of Architecture and Art of the Azerbaijan Academy of Sciences (1972-1975). She worked as a teacher at the Baku Library Technical School (1976-1978), a teacher at the Theater History Department of the Azerbaijan State Institute of Arts (1978-1985), a senior teacher, head of the department (1996-2001, 2014-2015), an associate professor (1998) and a professor (2009). She is currently the vice-rector for Science and Creative Affairs of the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts (since 2011). She is a candidate of philological sciences (1991), a doctor of art history (2005). She is the author of up to 250 scientific articles, 3 scientific monographs, and numerous scientific and methodological works.
She began his literary activity in 1972 with articles published in the “Gobustan” collection on theater criticism, and then regularly published articles on theater criticism and theater studies in periodicals. He is the chairman of the dramaturgy council of the Azerbaijan Writers’ Union, a member of the Artistic Council of the Azerbaijan State Academic National Drama Theater (since 1987), a member of the Board of Directors of the Union of Theater Workers (since 1988). Since 2010, she has been the Azerbaijani representative of the International Association of Theater Critics. She is the chairman of the expert commission on the specialty of Art History of the Higher Attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
She is a laureate of the “Golden Dervish” (1998), “Humay” (2008), “Jafar Jabbarli” (2015), and the “Haldun Taner” prize of TURKSOY (2015). She was awarded the “Artist” medal of the Union of Theater Workers of Azerbaijan (2015). She is an Honored Artist (2007).
