Mayak Karimov was born in Baku.

He studied at the Acting Department of the Azerbaijan State Institute of Arts (1970).

Since 1967, he has been acting mainly in episodic roles in films produced by the "Azerbaijanfilm" film studio.

He starred in the films of foreign filmmakers "Night in Chile" (1977, directed by Sebastian Alarcon, Alexander Kocharev / Russia), "Dust under the Sun" (1977, directed by Marionas Gedris / Lithuania, Russia), "Fiery Roads" (1977-1984, directed by Shukhrat Abbasov / Uzbekistan) as a Turkish policeman, "Santa Esperanza" (1980, directed by Sebastian Alarcon / Russia), "The Fall of the Condor" (1982, directed by Sebastian Alarcon / Russia), "The Win of a Lonely Merchant" (1984, directed by Sebastian Alarcon / Russia), "Jaguar" (1986, directed by Sebastian Alarcon / Russia) as an officer, "The Story of a Billiard Team" (1988, directed by Sebastian Alarcon / Russia), and "Russian Translation" (2006, directed by Alexander Chernyayev / Russia).

Mayak Karimov died in 2011.
