Orkhan Fikratoghlu

Orkhan Fikretoghlu (Orkhan Sadigov) was born in Baku.
He studied at a sports boarding school (1973-1983), and at the Maxim Gorky Institute of World Literature (1983-1991).
He started working as an assistant lighting engineer at the “Azerbaijanfilm” film studio. Then he became a cameraman and assistant director. He worked as editor-in-chief at the State Cinematography Committee, editor-in-chief at “Azkinovideo”, editor-in-chief at “Azerbaijantelefilm”, deputy director of the “Mir” television company, editor-in-chief of ANS television, director of the “Gunay” newspaper, director and artistic director of the “Mozalan” studio, director of the National Culinary Center (2022-2023), and acting director of the Cinema Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (2023-2025).
His first story was published in the “Kirpi” magazine in 1981. He is the author of more than 10 prose and journalistic books. His plays have been staged in theaters across the country.
He taught at the Faculty of Journalism and Azerbaijani Philology of Baku Slavic University. He was a presenter on ANS TV, ATV, and Public Television.
He is currently an advisor to the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
He is a laureate of the “Golden Pen” (2008), “Zirve” (2001), “Golden Fairy” (2018), “Hasan bey Zardabi” (2019) awards. He is an Honored Artist (2016).
Writer and screenwriter Orkhan Fikretoghlu is the son of poet Fikret Sadig.
