Rafael Salamzadeh (Rafayil Salamzadeh) was born in Baku.
He studied at the Cinematography Course of the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography in Moscow (1984).
He began his film career in the lighting department at the “Azerbaijanfilm” film studio in 1967. After working as a lighting technician for 6 months, he worked as an assistant cameraman in a newsreel for 10 years. He shot plots for about 50 chronicle films and newsreels. He served as a cameraman in the Karabakh battles.
He is an Honored Worker of Culture (2009).
