Rafig Yuzbashov was born in Baku.

He studied at Azerbaijan State University (1964) and the two-year Higher Courses of Scriptwriters and Film Directors in Moscow.

He worked as a translator-editor in the “Kino novyozy” newspaper (1964-1965), an assistant director at the “Azerbaijanfilm” film studio (1965-1966), an editor at the “Azerbaijantelefilm” Creative Union (1966-1975), and a director at the Chronicle-Documentary and Scientific-Mass Film Union under the “Azerbaijanfilm” film studio (1977-1993). He is the author of hundreds of film plots for the film magazines “Sovet Azerbaijan” and “Inchasanet”.

Rafig Yuzbashov died in 2016.
