Rashad Hashimov was born in Baku.

He studied at the Asef Zeynalli Music College and the Baku Music Academy (1990).

In 1990, he participated in the "Voice of Asia" competition held in Almaty as part of the "Aypara" group. During those years, he worked as a pianist in the "AzKonsert" State Touring Association. In 1993, he created the "Rast" group and is currently the artistic director of that group. The "Rast" group was awarded the "Humay" prize in 1996.

He is an Honored Artist (2006).
