Rimma Mammadova was born in Saratov, Russia.

She studied at the Baku Choreographic School (1961), the Directing Faculty of the Azerbaijan State Institute of Arts (1962-1967), and postgraduate studies at the Leningrad State Institute of Theater, Music, and Cinema (1972-1974).

She worked as a ballet dancer at the Azerbaijan Opera and Ballet Theater (1960-1967). She performed as a soloist in the “Sevinj” dance collective by Amina Dilbazi (1967-1968). She worked as a teacher at the Azerbaijan State Institute of Arts (1967-1987), director of the Baku Choreographic School (1978-1996). Since 1996, she has been working as a choreography teacher. Since 2000, she has been teaching “Fundamentals of Stage Movements” and “Dance” at the Baku Academy of Music. Associate Professor (2012), Honored Artist (2007).
