Rovshan Aghayev was born in Ganja.
He studied at the Azerbaijan Agricultural Institute as an Energy Engineer (1973).
On his own initiative, he created a film department at the institute and provided it with equipment. Along with his studies, he also began shooting short films. He graduated from the one-year scriptwriters course at the “Azerbaijanfilm” film studio (1980-1981). His plays were staged at the Ganja State Drama Theater, the Gazakh State Theater, the Yerevan State Azerbaijani Theater, the Azerbaijan State Russian Drama Theater, the Azerbaijan State Theater for Young Spectators, and the Azerbaijan State “Yug” Theater. By the decision of the USSR Ministry of Culture, he was awarded the title of the best playwright of the USSR in 1984. The play “Support Point” was awarded the prize of the Azerbaijan Ministry of Culture (1985). In addition to cinema and theater, he was also active in music. He has both acoustic guitar-played and arranged author's songs.
Rovshan Aghayev died in 2015.
