Sabir Azeri (Sabir Tatliyev) was born in the village of Dag Kesaman in Aghstafa.
He studied at the Journalism Department of the Philology Faculty of Azerbaijan State University (1956-1961).
He worked as a literary worker in the editorial office of the “Azerbaijani Youth” newspaper (1961-1962), an editor at the Azerbaijan State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company (1962-1966), head of the journalism department in the editorial office of the “Literature and Art” newspaper (1967-1968), head of the prose department in the “Ulduz” magazine (1968-1973), executive secretary (1973-1976), and deputy editor-in-chief (1976-1993). He began his literary activity during his student years. The play “Duman Chekylir” was staged, and the film “Kohne Bara” was made based on it. The novel "Dalanda" was published in Moscow in a mass circulation in the magazine "Sovetski pisatel" and its supplement "Roman-gazeta" (1990). The publication of this novel in Russian as a separate book in 3 million 500 thousand copies aroused serious interest in his work, and the publishing houses "Molodaya gvardiya" and "Sovetski pisatel" repeatedly published his stories and stories in a mass circulation. The story "Fear" was published in the magazine "Karvan" (1990), the novel "Sonsuz" in the magazine "Azerbaijan" (1990). He is the author of about thirty books. His works have been translated into the languages of the former Soviet peoples, as well as English, German, Spanish, Finnish, Hindi, and Turkish. The stories "Kar gaya", "Yol ayt", "Sary at" (trilogy) were awarded the "Golden Sickle" literary prize (1972).
Sabir Azeri died in 2010.
