Sayavush Shafiyev was born in Beylagan district.
He studied at the Moscow State Circus Art School and the Directing Faculty of the Azerbaijan State Theater Institute.
While studying in high school, he joined the drama club and won various boxing competitions. After graduating from the circus school, he was sent to the Soyuzsirk. In 1972, he was invited to Baku and worked as the artistic director of the Baku State Circus, where he found a place. Then he moved to Moscow with his family. There he worked as the chief director of the Moscow Union of "Circus on Stage". He toured most of the world with the circus team he directed.
He starred in the Russian-made film "The Restless Man" (1985, directed by Ajdar Ibrahimov) as a boy from Baku.
During a tour in France, his right hand became paralyzed and he lost the ability to speak. He lived in this condition for 9 years.
Honored Artist (1979) Sayavush Shafiyev died in Moscow in 2001. He was buried in the Yasamal cemetery in Baku.
