Shafiga Gasimova was born in Baku.

She lost her parents at a young age and was raised by her grandmother. At the age of 14, she began working in the choir of the Musical Comedy Theater (1939-1940). Uzeyir Hajibeyov invited her to the choir chapel of the Philharmonic (1940-1942). During World War II, she was admitted to the Azerbaijan Conservatory and in 1951 was invited to the choir troupe of the Academic National Opera Theater. Since 1956, she began working at the Musical Comedy Theater again, performing the title role in the operetta "Durna", the first performance of the reopening of the theater. She worked here until 1986. Since 1994, she was invited to the "Unfading Stars" collective of the Cultural Foundation.
