Suleyman Rahimov was born in the village of Ayin, Zangezur district (now Gubadli district).

He studied at the pedagogical course in Shusha, at the Faculty of History of Azerbaijan State University (1928-1931).

In 1921, he began working as a teacher at a newly opened school in the village of Khanlig. He taught in various districts of Zangezur district for a long time. He came to Baku in 1928. During his studies, he taught elderly workers at a two-shift literacy course in Garasheher. He began his literary activity in 1930, and his first work was "Shamo". He worked on this work for 50 years, constantly adding to it. One of his most famous works is "Black Land and Yellow Gold".

He was the chairman of the Azerbaijan Writers' Union (1939-1940, 1944-1945, 1954-1958).

He worked in leading party work in Lachin, Samukh, Shahbuz and Norashen regions (1934-1937). He worked as a secretary for propaganda in the Baku city committee of the Communist Party of Azerbaijan (1940-1941), deputy head of the propaganda and agitation department in the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Azerbaijan (1941-1944), chairman of the Committee for Cultural and Educational Affairs under the Council of Ministers of Azerbaijan (1945-1958).

He was awarded the "Golden Pen" award (1972). H
