Varis Yolchuyev was born in Sumgayit.
He studied at the Faculty of Philology of Baku State University (1990).
He was the editor-in-chief of the newspaper “168 hours” (1991), the editor-in-chief of the newspaper “7 gun” (1993), one of the creators of the program “Night Channel” on Azerbaijani television (1995), the editor-in-chief of the “Azerbaijan” publishing house of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan (2004-2007), the director of the Department of Periodicals and Sociological Research of Azerbaijani television (2007), the editor-in-chief of the national television and radio magazine “TV plus”. He has published hundreds of articles in the press, and has been awarded media awards by various international organizations (European Market Research Center, “Editorial Ofice”, etc.), and the “Golden Word” literary award. His first stories were published in the magazine “Ulduz”. His first novel “The Last Dying Hopes” was published in 2008. Later, more than 10 novels were published. He is the co-chairman of the Literary Council of the Eurasian Nations Assembly (2018), the general director of the Azerbaijan Literature Foundation. He is an honored journalist.
